China bridge collapse: Truck hangs mid-air with driver inside - watch terrifying video

In a dramatic and heart-stopping incident caught on camera, a cargo truck was left dangling from a collapsed highway bridge in China's southwestern Guizhou province after a landslide triggered by torrential rains struck on Tuesday morning, June 24.

The bridge, part of the Xiamen–Chengdu Expressway in Zunyi city, crumbled under pressure from the landslide, leaving the truck teetering over the void, its front cabin hanging in mid-air. The video, shared by Reuters on X, has since gone viral, amassing over 42,000 views and sparking a wave of emotional and stunned reactions online.

'Suddenly, the bridge disappeared'

The truck’s driver, You Guochun, recounted the surreal and terrifying moment to Shanghai Eye:

"When the front of my truck reached the section that later collapsed, I felt the ground sink slightly. I immediately hit the brakes, but the momentum carried the truck forward. Suddenly, the entire bridge in front of me disappeared. I was scared and just froze."

Emergency services responded swiftly. Firefighters threw a ladder onto the lorry's roof and carefully guided the driver to safety. Miraculously, no injuries were reported in the incident.

Social media reacts: 'Absolutely terrifying'

The footage prompted a wave of shocked responses on social media.

"Nature's force is no joke," one user posted.

Another quipped darkly, "Bridge: Made in China, bro."

Others simply reacted with disbelief: "Holyyyy cow" and "God have mercy."

While the viral video showed just one truck on the bridge at the time, authorities later confirmed three vehicles were found beneath the wreckage. Fortunately, no individuals were inside any of them.
