'Big, Beautiful Bill': Watch moment when Trump learnt of 51–50 Senate win; 'thank you, wow!'

Donald Trump appeared visibly moved as he received word during a roundtable discussion in Florida that his massive tax and spending legislation had passed the Senate. “Thank you, wow, thank you,” Trump said. “You know, I [was] listening to these wonderful words... but I was also wondering how we are doing because it is prime time. It shows I care about here, because I am here, but I should probably be there.”

The bill, known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” scraped through the Senate on a 51–50 vote, with Vice President JD Vance casting the tie-breaker. Three Republicans—Thom Tillis, Susan Collins and Rand Paul—broke ranks over concerns about healthcare cuts and the $5 trillion debt ceiling hike.

The legislation, spanning over 900 pages, marks a major victory for Trump, making permanent his 2017 tax cuts and introducing new measures like no taxes on tips. But it also includes $1.2 trillion in cuts to Medicaid and food stamps, triggering fierce resistance from Democrats and scepticism from within the GOP.

The bill now returns to the House, where Speaker Mike Johnson had urged senators to stick closely to its original framework.
