Writer urges youth to lead by example, revive literary culture

Mysuru: Our lives gain value only when we live as a model and ideal for others, said Writer Ramegowda (Ragou). Ragou was speaking at the Chavadi Friends Group at BV Karanth Rangachavadi in the city on Sunday.

He mentioned that there is a prevailing mindset that everything must start with us. The environment that existed in the past is disappearing. During the tenure of BM Srikantaiah as registrar, when the selection of the first professor of Kannada came up, he suggested appointing AR Krishnashastry Venkannayya to the position. When Venkannayya himself made the same suggestion, BM Sri eventually appointed Venkannayya as the first professor of Kannada, he recollected.

He expressed concern and surprise that even those who write these days are stopping their writing. With the advent of mobile phones, people are spending their time engrossed in them. The emergence of WhatsApp groups has also reduced the number of people coming together. Talented and intelligent individuals should wake up now. Write with interest, but do not hold expectations about it. Regardless of market conditions today, publishers are very cautious. Hence, writings should emerge excellently, he said.
