Wet weather is headed to the UK, with British cities set to be hit by rain in August. Latest maps from WXCHARTS show where and when the rain will hit, with many parts of the UK to see a change in weather.

The maps show that, at 6 a.m. on Monday, August 4, rain will make its way across the UK from the west. Initially, Northern Ireland, north Wales, the west coast of Scotland, and the north west of England will see the rain.

In England, rain will cover Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, York, and parts of Cumbria, before making its way down towards the Midlands with Stoke and Wolverhampton to see a maximum of 2mm per hour of rainfall.

By 9am, even more areas will be impacted with the rain now due to hit the east coast of England too, and reach further down into the Midlands.

Nottingham, Birmingham, and Newcastle are among the cities to be covered by the shower.

By 12 noon, Barmouth and Dumfries will experience the heaviest rainfall, with up to 5mm of rainfall per hour.

The south of England will not see any rainfall, according to the maps, with London, Gloucester, Bristol, parts of Cornwall, Brighton, Dover, and Plymouth to stay dry.

A forecast by the Met Office says: "Early next week, there is the potential for an unseasonably deep area of low pressure to affect the UK, which would bring widely windy and wet weather, especially for the west or northwest of the UK.

"The forecast around this is rather uncertain, however, and it is also possible that this will turn into a less windy but still wet spell further south.

"Following this, a continuation of the broadly changeable pattern is expected, with spells of rain or showers, some drier, brighter interludes and temperatures mainly near average."

It adds that, as we move towards mid-month, there is an increased chance of high pressure becoming more dominant, leading to drier, warmer, and more settled conditions becoming more widespread.
