Lakeland has just launched its summer sale, and as part of the home, garden, and gadget discounts, I found a particularly eye-catching deal on one of Shark's top-rated cordless vacuums. It's got an average rating of 4.5 on the Shark website, with over 1200 five-star reviews from happy customers.
The Shark Anti Hair Wrap Cordless Vacuum with Flexology is currently discounted by £80 at Lakeland, making it cheaper than buying directly from Shark or even Amazon, at the time of writing. At Lakeland, the vacuum is currently discounted to £169.99, down from its usual £249.99. Meanwhile, at Amazon it is on sale for £179 via the Shark store. Shark's official website has it priced at £249.99, though it's currently out of stock.
Lakeland hasn't announced when its summer sale will end, but since it was only recently launched, it's likely to last for a few more weeks. As well as discounts on Shark products, there are also a number of deals on big-name brands including Ninja and Gozney.
The vacuum, which Shark says is suitable for carpets and hard floors, already has plenty of positive reviews, many of which recommend it specifically for its "anti-hair wrap" abilities. Normally, as the brush spins to pick up dirt and dust, long strands of hair can wrap tightly around it. You then have to cut or pull the hair out by hand later. With anti-hair wrap technology, the Shark vacuum uses a unique bristle guard and comb to remove long, short and pet hair as you clean. Instead of getting caught, it gets sucked up straight into the waste chamber.
One Lakeland customer said, "I bought this product because I have two daughters, and we all have long, thick hair that looks unsightly on the carpet. My usual vacuum was forever clogging up and not working. This Shark anti-hair wrap vacuum works like a dream for me, helping me to keep the house spotless, and I've had no problems with it. Wonderful."
It also features Shark's 'Flexology' button. This is basically a big blue button in the middle of the vacuum, which, when pressed, lets you bend the wand so you can easily reach under beds and sofas without having to hunch over. There'll be no need to shift furniture around every time you clean. The stick then folds in half for compact storage, so it won't take up too much space.
You can also remove the end part of the pipe and turn it into a handheld vacuum, which works perfectly with the crevice tool and the upholstery tool, both included in the price. These are perfect for using in smaller spaces like the stairs, drawers or even the car. You can also remove the floorhead and attach the crevice tool, and because it is lightweight (just over 4kg) it's great for getting cobwebs in out of reach spots.
This model is also bagless. Instead, there is a clear waste chamber which is fixed by the handle. This can then be emptied using the release button that allows mess to drop straight into the bin.
One shopper on the Shark website wrote: "I bought this for my parents, who were having difficulty using their other brand due to its weight and being corded. They couldn't get round their flat properly. They really like this vacuum cleaner. It is lightweight enough for them and picks up so much more dirt than their previous cleaner did!"
According to Shark, the vacuum has a battery life of up to 40 minutes of runtime on a single charge if used in standard mode. The removable battery can be charged on or off the vacuum, at any plug socket. Shark says it should take approximately three hours for the battery to fully charge.
However, a few customers reported that the vacuum can feel a little "top-heavy" due to the battery being positioned up near the handle. They noted that while it's still fairly lightweight overall, it could take a little getting used to. One reviewer said: "A little heavier than I should have liked, but it is efficient and a pleasure to use. Fabulous in comparison to my previous cordless vacuum."

Not everyone was happy and some shoppers claimed they felt there wasn't enough power. One review explained: "Not great. It starts out as a good vacuum cleaner, but it soon starts to struggle with pet hair. Our dog moults a lot, and we have to vacuum a lot. [It] leaves dust and hair in dirty lines every time it is pulled back, which means you have to go over and over and over and over the same piece of carpet. And it's still not properly clean after that.
"The head seems designed not to be dismantled for cleaning, so after a few months, the vacuum is near useless. And it's not a cheap option. I expect a lot better from an expensive brand like this."
