Marc Guehi's reaction to his collapsed Liverpool transfer has been revealed just hours after the window slammed shut. The Reds launched a late bid to secure the Crystal Palace defender's services on transfer deadline day.

Liverpool completed eight signings throughout the summer window, including Alexander Isak's blockbuster £125million arrival on deadline day. Guehi was set to become the ninth addition to Arne Slot's squad before negotiations crumbled in the final hours.

A £35million agreement between Liverpool and Palace had been struck for the England international, reports the Liverpool Echo. Nevertheless, the transfer collapsed in the last moments after the Eagles couldn't secure a replacement, despite the Reds submitting a deal sheet to the Premier League push the move through.

Consequently, The Guardian has reported fresh details regarding Guehi's reaction to his failed Anfield switch. It has been claimed that the centre-back is "angry" with Palace's decision to block his Liverpool move, having already completed his medical in London on Monday.

The report further suggested Palace boss Oliver Glasner warned the club that he could resign from his post if Guehi's Anfield transfer went ahead. Palace had made an attempt to sign Igor Julio from Brighton before the defender chose to join West Ham instead.

It has also been claimed that Guehi is expected to release a statement following Palace's decision to stop a move to Liverpool from happening. It remains to be seen if the statement will be released on Tuesday, with the centre-back linking up with the England squad.

Guehi was named in the Three Lions squad by manager Thomas Tuchel last month for their World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia. The 25-year-old led Palace to FA Cup glory last season and netted his first goal of the current campaign in a 3-0 triumph over Aston Villa at the weekend.

Palace's next match after the international break will see them take on Sunderland at Selhurst Park on September 13. Just two weeks later, the Eagles will face Liverpool on home soil which will see Guehi take on the club that could have been his new employers had a deal gone through.
