Police swarmed a street in Manchester following reports of a stabbing incident. Officers were called to the scene shortly after 9.30pm on Monday night, where they found two males, both thought to be aged approximately 18, with stab wounds. They were taken to hospital. Two male suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident, Great Manchester Police (GMP) said.
One was arrested on suspicion of assault and taken straight to custody, while the other was transferred from hospital to custody. One of the men involved in the incident remains in hospital in a "stable condition," police said. A cordon was put in place between St John's Road and Stockport Road following the double stabbing. This morning, officers remain in attendance on Dickenson Road in Longsight.
Detective Inspector Geoffrey Machent, from GMP's Longsight CID, said: "We attended reports of a stabbing on Dickenson Road and swiftly arrested one man while two others were taken to hospital. One of those men has now been released from hospital and taken into police custody, while the other remains in hospital a stable condition.
"Carrying a knife can lead to serious and even fatal consequences.We are committed to removing weapons from our streets and protecting lives. You may notice an increase of officers in the area as they continue to conduct enquiries and offer community reassurance. Please feel free to let them know if you have any concerns."
