Liverpool's pursuit of Newcastle striker Alexander Isak is set to be boosted by Bayern Munich. The Reds have been heavily linked with the Swedish striker after he rocked his club by informing them he wants to explore his options.
The North East outfit will reportedly demand at least £150million for their prize asset. Isak, 25, still has three years to run on his contract. However, he is said to be angry by the club's failure to offer him a bumper new deal, and qualifying for the Champions League hasn't persuaded him to stay.
The fee appears problematic for the Premier League champions, given that they've already spent more than £200m this summer. Player sales will be needed to fund the deal, and Vincent Kompany is now set to inadvertently help.
According to Mail Sport, the Manchester City icon wants to bring Luis Diaz to the club. After an initial £60m fee was rejected, Bayern are now said to be preparing an increased offer of £66m, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reporting a deal is close to being done.

While an official bid has not yet been lodged, Anfield chiefs are braced for another approach. The money will go a long way towards funding a bid for Isak, who scored 27 times for Newcastle last season.
Diaz, 28, scored 13 goals for Liverpool last season. He remains contracted on Merseyside until 2027, but initially seemed set to move to Barcelona, but the Catalan club baulked at Liverpool's demanded fee.
Arne Slot now seemingly has little choice but to push through the sale of Diaz. The arrivals of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike mean losing the Colombian isn't likely to hit his side.
So much has been made of who Liverpool have brought in during the transfer window. Letting Diaz go could pave the way to land the most notable capture of them all.
