Well-loved British James Norton, 40, is no stranger to big roles, and his bank account reflects this fact. Star of such series as BBC's Happy Valley, ITV's Grantchester, and Joy on Netflix - Norton's bank balance is looking healthy. He has starred in some of the best recent series on British television and will now take to the screen again as former English king Harold Godwinson in King and Conqueror.
The soon-to-be-released historical drama, created for BBC One, stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as William the Conqueror. It will premiere on Sunday and has been much anticipated by the public and critics alike.
Norton told The Guardian about his latest project: "I wasn't aware of the relationship Harold and William had before the battle, that they were friends and allies for many years before they realised that, because of the way Europe was being carved up, they would both inevitably end up on a battlefield - and one of them would have to die."

The Express previously reported in 2023 that the Happy Valley star's net worth was around £4.9million. He came into his own as the violent Tommy Lee Royce and won acclaim for his portrayal of the character. Figures on Norton's net worth do fluctuate, with website Celebrity Net Worth previously reporting the amount as £827,000.
His performance earned him a BAFTA TV nod in 2015 and saw him move onto ITV's Grantchester, where he took on a lead as crime-solving clergyman Sidney Chambers opposite Robson Green.
In between starring in the ITV crime drama, Norton took on other roles, starring in the BBC drama McMafia, Black Mirror, and War and Peace. Norton also had roles in Lady Chatterley's Lover and Life in Squares during this time.
After departing from Grantchester, Norton took part in theatre work while he also featured in Little Women, Rogue Agent, The Trial of Christine Keeler, and Nowhere Special. These roles got the actor more exposure and helped increase his net worth over time.
Norton is also reportedly due for another series release later this year when House of Guiness - another show he has been working on - premieres. The show, created by Steven Knight, the mind behind Peaky Blinders, tells the story of the dynasty behind the famous Irish stout.
The series is set in 19th-century Dublin and New York and focuses on the Guinness family, specifically the events following the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the patriarch who built the brewery into a global powerhouse.
The series delves into the power struggles and rivalries among his four children, Arthur, Edward, Anne, and Benjamin, as they navigate the complexities of their inheritance and the responsibility of the immense Guinness empire.
Norton plays a key role as Sean Rafferty, a character who represents the more modern aspects of the story and whose relationship with the Guinness family explores class and religious tensions.
