The Chase fans were left screaming at their TVs after one contestant fumbled what many described as the "easiest question ever" - and lost everything. The chaos unfolded on the ITV quiz favourite, hosted by Bradley Walsh, as four hopefuls - Olivia, Michael, Ryan and Jill - tried their luck against Anne Hegerty, aka The Governess. Jill made it all the way to the final question after banking an impressive £8,000 and facing off against Anne, who was just one step behind. But her shot at the prize money came crashing down thanks to a blunder that left viewers raging.
She was asked: "In what movie did Catherine O'Hara famously shout 'Kevin!'?" The multiple choice options were: Fly Away Home, Home Alone 2, and Sweet Home Alabama. Fans were stunned when Jill picked Fly Away Home - ignoring the now-iconic Christmas classic Home Alone, in which O'Hara's character yells her son's name in horror after forgetting him during a family holiday.
The mistake meant Jill lost everything and was sent home empty-handed, despite being just one correct answer away from victory.
Viewers didn't hold back, taking to social media to vent their disbelief. One fumed: "Easiest question ever!! Home Alone!!"
Another added: "Blows an absolute sitter. Off you go. Is she insane??" A third asked: "What type of person are you that you've never seen Home Alone?!"
Sadly for Jill, as well as teammates Ryan and Olivia, their journeys ended there after a standout performance from Anne. But it wasn't over for Michael.
Despite being the last player standing in the final chase, Michael refused to go down without a fight. Playing for £6,000, he managed an impressive solo score of 16 - and in a dramatic twist, forced seven pushbacks on Anne, who appeared to completely lose her rhythm.
Against the odds, Michael held his nerve and outran the chaser, taking home the cash and delivering a rare solo victory
Fans were recently left fuming over another major blunder on The Chase after a contestant got yet another "ridiculously easy" question wrong - this time involving a legendary creature straight out of mythology (and Harry Potter).
Hopeful player Reanna faced off against chaser Shaun Wallace, also known as The Dark Destroyer. After her teammate Justin was caught, Reanna stepped up - but her time was cut short thanks to a question that had viewers shouting at their screens.
Bradley asked: "In legend, how did the basilisk kill its prey?" with the options being stinging, singing, or staring.
Reanna chose stinging - sending her home and viewers into meltdown.
One unimpressed fan wrote: "She's clearly never watched Harry Potter #TheChase." Another raged: "Nah, I'm screaming - that was easy."
Despite a solid effort from the rest of the team, Shaun eliminated them all, leaving fans disappointed once again.
