Donald Trump LIVE: US president to make major Iran announcement at 6pm

Donald Trump is expected to make an important announcement regarding the US's invovlement in the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict. The US president is due to hold a meeting in the situation room at 4.30pm UK time, followed by a press briefing at around 6pm. While details remain sparse, the Republican's engagements are presumed to centre around whether or not to launch an offensive aimed at taking out Iran's nuclear programme.

This comes after Mr Trump apparently gave the green light to attack plans but withheld the final order, according to the Wall Street Journal. The outlet claimed that Tehran's Fordow enrichment facility is a potential target. Buried under a mountain, it's considered to be unreachable by all but the most powerful bombs.
