The website of the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has gone down once again across India. The EPFO website has gone down several times in the last few days. In such a situation, if you are also troubled by the frequent technical problems, then we have a solution to your problem. Provident Fund (PF) is an important part of the financial planning of salaried employees, but it has become difficult to access it due to frequent website downtime, OTP failure, and login problems.
The PF fund is formed by monthly contributions from the employee and the employer. It is a government-backed long-term scheme that earns an annual interest rate, which grows over the years to become a good fund. PF also provides financial assistance during emergencies such as illness or unemployment. That is why it is important to keep track of PF balance and ensure all necessary compliance (such as in case of changing jobs) so that there is no inconvenience later. The government has introduced several options to make it more accessible. Customers can check their PF balance through SMS and missed-call services even if the website is down. Here's how:
Check balance through SMS.
EPFO members who have an active Universal Account Number (UAN) can check their latest PF contribution and balance by sending an SMS. UAN is a 12-digit unique member number allotted by the EPFO. The number is available on pay slips.
To get the information through SMS, you need to send a query to 7738299899 from your registered number. The default language of this service is English. However, users can also get the information in nine other languages , including Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, or Bengali.
Open the SMS app on the registered mobile number
1. To get PF details in English, type: EPFOHO UAN
2. To get PF details in any other language, type: EPFOHO UAN XXX
(Replace XXX with the first three letters of your language, e.g. TEL for Telugu)
3. Send the SMS to 7738299899
4. You will receive the latest PF contribution, balance, and KYC details via SMS
Make sure the mobile number is registered and active with UAN on the EPFO portal. At least one KYC (bank account, Aadhaar, or PAN) should be linked with UAN. Give a missed call to 9966044425 from the registered mobile number. The call will be disconnected automatically after two rings. An SMS will be received containing the last contribution and PF balance details. EPFO members should note that this service is free.
