Samsung has launched a new contender in the Galaxy smartphone series, set to rival Apple's iPhone 17. Earlier this month, Samsung introduced the Galaxy S25 FE, dubbed as the 'latest and most accessible addition to the Galaxy S25 lineup'.
This unveiling occurred just days before Apple's annual event, where the tech behemoth finally revealed its newest smartphones, including the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air.

The S25 FE is part of Samsung's wallet-friendly 'Fan Edition' series and starts at £649 from Samsung and Amazon, that's £150 less than the iPhone 17. For customers who prefer to spread the cost with a contract, Sky Mobile's £23 launch deal offers £368 worth of freebies including a free Galaxy Watch7 and a pair of free Galaxy Buds3 FE.
The phone comes with a 100MB data allowance, but for those needing more data, Sky's data plans offer 3GB for £6 or 50GB for £12. One crucial factor to bear in mind is that Sky's £23 deal is based on a 36-month contract.
Customers can switch to a new phone anytime after 24 months without any additional charges. The more affordableS25 FE may not be as powerful as the latest iPhone 17 range, but it still packs a punch with its impressive features.

The device boasts a 6.7" dynamic AMOLED 2X display, 12MP ultra-wide camera and 50MP wide camera. Plus 256GB of storage, a robust 4,900 mAh battery and an IP68 water and dust resistance rating. The handset also boasts a range of Galaxy AI capabilities, including Generative Edit and Circle to Search, alongside Google's AI-powered Gemini Live.
All these functions are packed into an upgraded Armor Aluminium frame with a sleek, lightweight build and comes in four shades - Icyblue, Jetblack, Navy and White. Meanwhile, Currys-backed retailer Mobiles.co.uk is selling the gadget on a payment plan.Paired with an iD Mobile SIM, it's going for £26.99 on an unlimited data package, though this excludes complimentary earbuds.
Regarding feedback, Samsung Galaxy S25 FE purchasers have been singing the device's praises since getting their mitts on it, reports the Daily Record.
One buyer remarked: "Camera has been very good so far, but needs longer to appreciate some of the many features. Display is really good, with many options to use. Performance is sleek and nice to use for all aspects of this mobile."
Another customer emphasised the value and highlighted the camera specifications. They commented: "Great camera and features at this price point. Looks premium and its got a great battery".
Nevertheless, the Galaxy S25 FE is a considerably stripped-back variant of the S25 with reduced RAM, marginally dimmer screen and weaker internal processor, so that's something buyers should bear in mind.
