Wayanad (Kerala) | A leopard that has been causing panic among residents of Kalloor, a forest-fringe area in this district, was trapped in a cage set by wildlife officials early on Tuesday.
Villagers expressed relief as the forest officials were informed and reached the spot after the animal was caught.
The leopard's presence had been reported in Cheeral and Nambiarkunnu areas on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border here for the past few days, according to forest authorities.
The villagers complained that the big cat was responsible for killing several domestic animals in recent days.
A video, in which a leopard was seen walking alongside a road in the area, also surfaced a few days back.
The trapped feline was later shifted to the animal care centre at Kuppadi in Bathery, forest authorities added.
