Especially what you eat as soon as you wake up on an empty stomach determines how your digestion, metabolism, skin, and mental energy will be. Both Ayurveda and nutrition emphasize that the first meal of the morning should be light, nutritious and “awaken” the body. Dr. R.P. Parashar, Chief Medical Officer in the Ayurveda Department of the Delhi Government, explains that according to Ayurveda, morning is the time of balance of Vata and Kapha doshas. As soon as you wake up in the morning, the body is cold, sluggish and slow, so one should eat such food that gives warmth to the body, activates digestion slowly and helps in cleaning the intestines.
1 Warm Water:
Ayurveda recommends starting the day with one or two glasses of lukewarm water. Drinking it by adding lemon juice and a little honey helps in removing toxins from the body. It activates metabolism and also provides relief from constipation.
2. Soaked Triphala or Cumin Water:
Drinking water of Triphala powder soaked overnight or cumin water in the morning helps in detoxifying the body. It cleanses the liver and also provides relief from gas and acidity.
3. Soaked almonds and raisins:
Eating 45 almonds and some raisins soaked overnight is considered very nutritious in Ayurveda. Almonds are beneficial for the brain and raisins increase iron and energy levels in the body.

Nutrition experts believe that the body is dehydrated as soon as one wakes up in the morning and needs moisture and nutrition. Therefore, first of all something should be given which gives energy to the body and starts the metabolism properly.
1. Lemon water or detox drink:
Drinking lukewarm water mixed with lemon juice and a pinch of rock salt is considered the best way to start your morning. It rehydrates the body, balances electrolytes and supports the liver.
2. Soaked Chia Seeds Water or Fenugreek Water:
Chia seeds contain fiber and omega-3 fatty acids which help in keeping the stomach clean. Fenugreek water is considered good for digestion and also controls blood sugar level.
3 Fruits or dry fruits:
Some nutritionists recommend eating seasonal fruits (such as papaya, apple, banana) or dry fruits on an empty stomach in the morning. This provides the body with natural sugar, fiber and micronutrients which help in staying active throughout the day.
Do not eat these things on an empty stomach
Tea or coffee: Drinking tea on an empty stomach can cause acidity and gas problems. It also suppresses hunger and affects the digestive system.
Cold water or cold drinks from the fridge : Consuming cold things early in the morning slows down digestion and affects the natural heat of the body.
Eating too heavy or fried food : Eating heavy food on an empty stomach puts pressure on the digestive system and makes you feel tired.
