Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Acting on public complaints received during a recent Jan Sunwai (public hearing), Indore Municipal Corporation, amid some resistance on Wednesday, removed unauthorised tin sheds and kiosks put up on land owned by Gopal Mandir Trust at 56 Shraddhanand Marg, Kalali Mohalla. The land belongs to Charbhuja Nath Temple under Padmavanshiya Marwadi Rathore Panchayat.

The action by additional municipal commissioner Lata Agrawal was carried out as per the directives of municipal commissioner Shivam Verma. Zone 12’s removal team removed the encroachments.

Earlier, during a removal operation on June 20, members of the same team were allegedly obstructed and verbally abused by illegal occupants — identified as Neelam Sonkar, Brijraj Sonkar, Bunty Sonkar and Gaurav Sonkar — while attempting to clear the area.

Following the incident, an FIR was lodged against them at Sanyogitaganj police station by building officer Rahul Suryavanshi.

In an attempt to halt the demolition, one of the encroachers, Neelam Sonkar, had filed a writ petition in Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court against the IMC. However, the court dismissed the petition on June 23 without issuing any stay order.

Wednesday’s operation was completed successfully, with the site cleared of all unauthorised structures.
