Shardiya Navratri 2025: Shardiya Navratri starts from 22 September 2025. For nine days, nine forms of the Goddess Mother are worshiped in this festival. It is believed that when Mata Sati gave up her life, Lord Shiva picked up the body of his wife Devi Sati and started doing Tandava in sorrow. Shiva Tandava led to a situation of destruction. To stop this, Lord Vishnu broke the body parts of Mata Sati into pieces with his Sudarshan Chakra. Shaktipeeths were established wherever her body parts fell.

Shaktipeeths in Uttar Pradesh
1. Manikarnika Ghat, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh - Manikarnika of Mata Sati fell here. Vishalakshi and Manikarni forms of Mata are worshipped here.
2. Mata Lalita Devi Shaktipeeth, Prayagraj - The finger of Mata Sati's hand fell at this place located in Allahabad. Here she is known as Mata Lalita.
3. Mata Sati's right breast fell in Ramgiri, Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh. At this place, she is worshipped as Mata Shivani.
4. Uma Shaktipeeth is located in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh. It is also known as Katyayani Shaktipeeth. Here, the bunch of hair and Chudaamani of Mata fell.
5. Mata's left shoulder fell in Devi Patan Temple, Balrampur. In this Shaktipeeth, Mata is seated in the form of Mateshwari.
Shaktipeeths of North India
6. Naina Devi Temple- Goddess Sati's eye fell on the Shivalik mountain in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. Here Mata Devi is called Mahisha Mardini.
7. Jwala Ji Shaktipeeth- The Goddess's tongue fell in Kangra, Himachal, due to which it was named Siddhida or Ambika.
8. Mahamaya Shaktipeeth, Mata Sati's throat fell in Pahalgam, Kashmir. Amarnath, Mahamaya is worshipped here.
Shaktipeeths of Madhya Pradesh
9. Harsiddhi Devi Shaktipeeth- There are two Shaktipeeths of the goddess in Madhya Pradesh. One of these is Harsiddhi Devi Shaktipeeth, where Mata Sati's elbow fell. It is located on the western bank of Rudra Sagar Lake.
10. Shondev Narmata Shaktipeeth- Mother's Daya buttock fell in Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh. Due to the origin of the Narmada river here, the mother is worshipped in the form of Narmada.

11. Tripur Malini Mata Shakti Peeth- The left leg of the mother fell near the cantonment station in Jalandhar, Punjab.

13. Maa Bhadrakali Devikoop Mandir, the right ankle of the mother fell in Kurukshetra, Haryana. The form of Maa Bhadrakali is worshipped here.

16. Shakti Peeth of Maa Ambika- There is a temple of Maa Ambika in Birat, Rajasthan. The toes of the left foot of Maa Sati had fallen here.
17. Matabari Mountain Peak Shakti Peeth- It is in Radhakishorpur village of Udarpur in Tripura. The right foot of the Goddess had fallen at this place. Here the Goddess is called Goddess Tripur Sundari.

18. Ambaji Temple Shakti Peeth- There is a temple of Maa Ambaji in Gujarat. It is believed that the heart of the Goddess had fallen here.
19. Maa Chandrabhaga Shakti Peeth, Junagadh, the stomach of Goddess Sati had fallen in Junagadh, Gujarat. Here the Goddess is known as Chandrabhaga.
