Adani Group is likely to announce an investment of ₹20,000 crore in the north-eastern region on Friday, according to sources. The announcement will be made at the Rising Northeast Investors Summit to be held in New Delhi on Friday and Saturday. PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the summit.

The Adani Group is slated to announce investments in the thermal power sector, where it aims to set up a 3200 MW plant in Assam, and transmission operations. It may also announce investments in green energy, apart from setting up renewable energy capacity. The group is also weighing options to set up nuclear power plants in the region, sources said.

The summit aims to highlight the North East region as a land of opportunity, and bring together key stakeholders, investors and policymakers. Industry bigwigs such as Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani will be among those present, according to sources.

The RIL group is likely to announce investments by Reliance Jio and Reliance Retail.

Minister for communications and development of north-eastern region Jyotiraditya Scindia said the ministry has secured investment proposals worth ₹4.22 lakh crore by conducting nine domestic roadshows. It has also organised ambassadors' meet with over 75 countries, and facilitated six state-level roundtables along with six sector-specific interactions.

In February, Adani, Reliance and Tata groups had announced investments in Assam. While Adani and Reliance groups had committed to invest Rs 50,000 crore, Tata had promised to invest close to Rs 27,000 crore in Assam.
