might not make it for the remainder of the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League for Delhi Capitals (DC) after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) revealed that it hasn't been approached for a no-objection certificate so far. Mustafizur was recently signed as a replacement for top-order batter, Jake Fraser-McGurk.
The CEO of the BCB, Nizamuddin Chowdhury, confirmed the development.
"Mustafizur is supposed to go with the team (Bangladesh) to the UAE according to the schedule. We have not received any communication from the IPL officials. I have also not received any such official communication from Mustafizur either," stated Mustafuzur, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
For the unversed, Mustafizur is a part of Bangladesh's T20I squad for the upcoming series against the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan. Both the series will coincide with the IPL. Mustafizur made his way to Dubai with the rest of his national teammates hours after being signed as Fraser-McGurk's replacement.
As far as DC are concerned, they have three group-stage games to go. The franchise will be taking on Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, and Punjab Kings on May 18, May 21, and May 24, respectively. Considering they make it to the top four, they will further participate in the playoffs.
Prior to his stint with Chennai Super Kings in the previous season, the wiry pacer was a part of DC itself during the 2022 and 2023 editions of the IPL. He played a total of 10 games, picking up nine wickets at an economy rate of 9.45. If at all Mustafizur manages to make it through to , the Axar Patel-led franchise will anticipate better returns from the seasoned pro.
Mustafuzur was recently playing in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League while representing Mohammedan Sporting Club. He secured five wickets in one less game played while conceding runs at an economy of 5.32.
