A recent press release by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will resume on Saturday, May 17. This comes after extensive consultations with all the key stakeholders associated with the tournament in addition to the Indian government.
A total of 17 matches are set to be played across six venues, starting on the aforementioned date. The final of is scheduled to be played on Tuesday, June 3. The revised schedule includes a couple of double-headers, both of which will be played on separate Sundays.
The itinerary for the playoffs is as follows:
- Qualifier 1: May 29
- Eliminator: May 30
- Qualifier 2: June 1
- Final: June 3
The exact venues for playoffs will be announced in the near future. Bengaluru, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad will be the venues which will host the remaining league matches. The group-stage fixtures are scheduled to conclude on Tuesday, May 27.
Revised fixtures see major changesThe fresh schedule is a majorly tweaked one compared to the original which could be attributed to logistical reasons for the teams.
